Weaving the threads of wisdom from the ancient trees, we gather on this Mother's Day. Guided by an unseen hand, like the leaves rustling in the breeze, a tarot spread offered its insights. It spoke of the mind seeking clarity, the body yearning for solace and the spirit reaching for the unknown. Yet, within these seemingly disparate needs lies a profound truth: to truly honor the mothers who have nurtured us, we must nurture ourselves in return.
Deep within the ancient wisdom of the Druids lies a profound connection to the Earth Mother and the spirit of nurturing. They saw the Earth as a living Mother, nurturing life in all its forms. As a Druidess, I honor this connection by weaving a poetic tapestry inspired by the wisdom of the grove. As sunlight filters through the leaves, let us celebrate the mothers who walk beside us, strong and enduring, like the ancient oaks.
This poem, then, becomes a journey through the heart of the grove, a celebration of the life-giving force of the Earth Mother and the mothers who walk beside us. May it serve as a reminder to listen to the whispers of the wind, the wisdom of the trees and the love that flows through all creation.
An ode to Great Mother Earth
In the heart of the grove, where sunlight paints the leaves,
We gather this day, the air alive with reverence and peace.
This Mother's Day, we honor the Earth, the womb of all,
And the mothers who walk its path, both standing tall and fallen.
Great Mother Earth, we sing your endless song,
Your rivers flow, your mountains stand so strong.
You nourish life with every verdant shoot,
A cradle for creatures, both tender and stout.
We see your reflection in mothers who hold us near,
Their love a constant flame, banishing every fear.
Like patient oaks, they weather every storm,
Their roots run deep, keeping us safe and warm.
But tangled thoughts can cloud the clearest mind,
Decisions linger, leaving worries to find
A home within. Like mists that veil the dawn,
Confusion lingers, a battle yet to be won.
So let us gather wisdom from the whispering breeze,
Seeking clarity beneath the ancient trees.
May quiet reflection guide us through the maze,
And inner peace become a guiding phrase.
For the body's well-being, a gentle touch we crave,
A soothing balm, a wave that washes away the wave
Of daily struggles. Like the flowing stream,
Let nurturing waters cleanse and make us gleam.
Let laughter echo through the sun-dappled glade,
Sharing stories, a bond forever made.
In nature's embrace, let hearts and spirits soar,
Finding solace in the beauty evermore.
The Fool's heart lives within us, eager and bright,
A yearning for adventure, to chase the morning light.
Let curiosity be our guide, a playful quest,
Exploring the world, putting worries to the test.
With open minds, we embrace the unknown,
Planting seeds of wonder, seeds we've always sown.
May they sprout in joy, a dance beneath the sun,
A celebration of life, a race that's just begun.
So on this Mother's Day, we raise our voices high,
To the Earth, our Mother, and the mothers who stand by.
May their love, like moonlight, forever guide our way,
And in their embrace, find solace every day.
Tarot spread: Mind, body, spirit
This simple 3-card spread can be used with both tarot and oracle cards. It’s a spread I use often, particularly in the mornings to start my day.
There are many ways to utilize this spread. Here is how I use it:
How will I look after my mind today? By going within and listening to my inner voice first, before listening to anyone else about any decisions I need to make (2 of swords).
How will I look after my body? By meditating, drinking plenty of water, being still and doing things to calm the body (king of cups). Note: the practicality of tarot cannot be overlooked. This is the suit of cups. Look at all the water in the card. And look at what he’s doing. When reading tarot, it’s not always about the “traditional meanings”, it’s also very much about what you see.
How will I look after my spirit? By being open and accepting (the fool). If people want to honor you today, let them do it. If you’re hiding from younglings because you see them every day (like me… lol), go out in nature and be open to whatever the Earth Mother has for you.
Until next time,
The Book Druid xo
