Potent lunar energy this weekend
Balsamic Moon and New Moon in Pisces: March 9-10, 2024
At this point in my spiritual practice, nothing is a coincidence anymore. I wasn’t surprised at all to see the Moon as the underlying energy of the weekly reading when pulling cards this past Sunday. Nor was I surprised by how La Luna’s energy this weekend complements the guidance from the cards.
I always find the time just before a new moon to be quite potent. I am one of many witches who works with the dark moon. There are some who view the “dark moon” and the “new moon” as the same thing. I do not. They are very different and have different energy. The new moon is about new beginnings, and the dark moon is what I call “womb time”.
The dark moon is part of the balsamic phase, so we’re still in that letting go energy for most of the daytime hours on Saturday, Mar 9. But as we approach the evening hours, that’s when we enter the dark moon space… womb space… a portal where life and ideas are created… in the dark. The New Moon in Pisces happens at 5am ET. If you’re awake at that hour (I usually am), it’s a good time to plant the seeds you created in the dark.
The tarot and oracle cards from this week emphasized refining skills, exploring emotional depth and building confidence.
Balsamic Moon and New Moon in Pisces
Letting go: The balsamic moon encourages releasing limiting beliefs, outdated storylines or creative blocks that might be hindering your creativity. Use this time to declutter your writing space, revisit and revise old ideas, or simply rest your mind to make space for the period when the dark moon is upon us.
New beginnings: The new moon signifies fresh starts and planting seeds for future endeavors. This complements the focus on new ideas and breakthroughs from the Ace of Swords. Use the new moon phase to brainstorm freely, explore new writing prompts or begin outlining a completely new story concept fueled by Sleeping Beauty's Dream's emphasis on boundless imagination.
Intuition: Pisces, a water sign, is associated with heightened intuition. This aligns with the Queen of Pentacles and her focus on nurturing and fostering a sense of security. As earthy as she is, this queen is as intuitive as she is practical and pragmatic. I very much relate to the Queen of Pentacles. Use this time to meditate or practice automatic writing to tap into your subconscious and explore your creative instincts. Trust your gut feeling when making decisions about your writing or characters.
How the cards and La Luna’s energy complement each other:
The tarot and oracle cards provide concrete steps for action. The lunar energy offers a more introspective approach, encouraging you to release what no longer serves you and plant seeds for new creative endeavors.
The focus on emotional depth in the cards, especially with the Three of Swords, aligns with the watery nature of Pisces, inviting you to explore the emotional landscapes of your characters and worlds in a deeper way. I also encourage exploring your own emotional landscape as a writer. The way you feel about your writing is deeply embedded into the words that end up on the page.
The emphasis on confidence and self-belief from the cards is amplified by the new moon's energy, encouraging you to embrace your unique writing voice and go on new creative journeys.
Overall, the cards and La Luna’s energy encourage a dynamic approach. While the cards provide practical guidance for daily writing tasks, the balsamic and new moons in Pisces offer a chance to connect with your deeper creative wellspring and allow your subconscious to inform your narrative. Use this time to refine, release and tap into your intuition for a powerful creative surge.
No prompts this weekend, wyrdweavers. I think you have enough to carry you through the weekend. Happy New Moon!
