Happy Sunday, Wyrdweavers! I’m sitting at the dining table with a cuppa and a handful of grapes for a snack. And there’s a good bit of kitchen witchery going on as I write this.
I decided that I wanted to try spatchcocking two chickens to roast for dinner today. I fully acknowledge that what I’m about to say is probably sexist af, but I don’t care. That shit is man’s work, and my hands are very sore from doing it! So never will I ever do that again. My small, delicate hands aren’t cut out for that kind of manual labor.
While the chickens and a large piece of trout are hanging out in some homemade green seasoning (it’s an edible protection spell), I thought I would spend a few quiet moments pulling cards to see what guidance they have for us and our writing this week. The decks I’m using are Tarot of Mystical Moments and Oracle of Mystical Moments. I love the artwork of both decks.
I felt called to pull only two oracle cards to give us a couple of themes for the week. This week's cards offer a blend of focused action, emotional exploration and blooming confidence. Here’s how they can guide your writing journey.
Themes of the week: Sleeping Beauty's Dream and Bloom
The oracle cards emphasize the power of imagination and the importance of self-confidence.
Don’t stifle your creativity by thinking your ideas are mediocre. Allow Sleeping Beauty's Dream to inspire you to tap into the limitless possibilities of your imagination. Don't be afraid to explore unconventional concepts and push the boundaries of your genre.
And believe in your story! Real talk: If you don’t, nobody else will either. I’m so tired of reading posts from writers saying, “welp, I’ve finished writing my book… but what’s the point of publishing it if nobody’s gonna read it?” Stop that! Bloom signifies self-confidence. This week, trust your creative instincts and own your unique voice as a writer.
On to the tarot…
Monday, Mar 4: Eight of Pentacles
Tarot insights: Skill, mastery, dedication
Focus on worldbuilding specifics. Delve deeper into your magic systems or technological intricacies. Flesh out details about technology, societal structures or the workings of your fictional world. Refine how your characters utilize their unique abilities.
Take action: Hone your craft. Revise, practice specific writing techniques or tackle a challenging scene. Channel your inner Virgo; be detail-oriented and refine your skills.
Tuesday, Mar 5: Three of Swords
Tarot insights: Grief, conflict, communication
Introduce a betrayal or a devastating loss that forces your main character to confront their vulnerabilities. Explore the emotional toll of technological advancements or societal inequalities. How does your narrative address grief and conflict in your fictional world?
Take action: Explore emotional depth within your characters. Dig into the wounds and conflicts that motivate them. Consider writing a scene from a character's perspective filled with emotional turmoil.
Wednesday, Mar 6: Queen of Pentacles
I LOVE this depiction of her! Her wearing a formal jacket tells me she is about her business… don’t come at her with foolery.
Tarot insights: Abundance, security, nurturing
Explore themes of resource management, community building or the creation of sustainable societies in your fictional world. Create a vibrant description of a thriving city, a nurturing community or a character's haven within their world.
Take action: Channel your inner Queen of Pentacles. Write a scene focused on building a haven for your characters, be it a physical space or a sense of emotional security.
Thursday, Mar 7: Ace of Swords
Tarot insights: Clarity, new ideas, breakthroughs
Let your imagination run wild. Explore unconventional magic systems or unexpected twists in your plot. Challenge existing paradigms. Introduce groundbreaking scientific discoveries or innovations that alter the dynamics of your fictional world.
Take action: As you can see from the imagery, the man’s hat (yes, it’s a man!) is a nautilus with a keyhole in the center, which is a portal to wisdom and secrets of the cosmos as represented by his shirt. He is holding the key to enter that portal. Take his key and enter. Today is an excellent day for brainstorming, tackling creative blocks or outlining a new story concept. And because it’s Thursday, ask Jupiter, the benevolent king, to give you a little boost of mental expansiveness.
Friday, Mar 8: Six of Pentacles
Tarot insights: Gratitude, community, sharing
Explore the importance of collaboration and support systems within your world. How do your characters rely on each other and celebrate their collective achievements? How can you depict a society that thrives on collaboration, resource sharing and a sense of collective responsibility?
Take action: Celebrate your progress and connect with your fellow wyrdweavers. If you identify as female, this goes double for you. It’s our month to lift each other up! Share your work, offer support and foster a sense of community.
May these cards and messages spark your creativity and guide your writing journey this week.
Yours in magick and mysticism,
The Book Druid xo
