The Weekly Draw for June 30th thru July 6th
Guidance for your writing week: Inner strength, creative birthing and bold action
Hello, dear ones. Welcome to this week’s edition of The Weekly Draw. As many of you liked the new spread I created last week, I will be using it again for this week’s guidance.
The cards are urging you to tap into your inner strength, open yourself up to creative birthing and take bold action. As we approach the upcoming new moon in Cancer on July 5th at 18:57 ET, the astrological energy further amplifies themes of vulnerability, emotional exploration and nurturing your creative spirit.
Let’s get into it, shall we?
Weekly guidance
Your world within (Strength) - Inner strength + truth
Strength, in the “Your world within" position, highlights your inner fortitude and resilience. This is a time to tap into your courage and unwavering belief in your storytelling abilities. Don't be afraid to write your truth. I will continue saying this until I no longer have breath in my body. Fiction allows us to explore complex emotions and realities. Don't shy away from weaving your own truths, vulnerabilities and experiences into your narrative. The strength you possess lies in the authenticity of your voice.
New moon in Cancer: The new moon in Cancer further emphasizes emotional honesty. This lunation encourages you to dig deep into your inner well of emotions and channel them into your characters and story.
A spark (The empress) - Creative birthing
Like many other tarot decks, the empress in this card is pregnant. But pregnancy isn’t only about birthing a child. There are many forms of creations that need to be birthed. The empress, as “A spark," ignites your creative fire. This card signifies abundance, nurturing and the birthing of new ideas. This is a fertile time for generating fresh concepts, fostering your characters' development and letting your imagination flourish. Consider exploring themes of family, connection and emotional depth in your writing.
New moon in Cancer: The new moon in Cancer amplifies the creative birthing energy of the empress. Use this lunar influence to plant seeds for new stories, explore motherhood (or what it means to “mother” something) or familial relationships within your narrative, and nurture your creative spirit through self-care practices.
The catalyst (Knight of swords) - Bold action
The knight of swords, as "The Catalyst," urges you to take action. Knights signify movement. This card represents decisiveness, clarity and the courage to move forward. Don't let self-doubt or procrastination hold you back. The knight of swords encourages you to channel your newfound clarity and emotional exploration (from strength and the empress) into focused writing sessions, plot development or tackling writing challenges head-on.
New moon in Cancer: While the new moon in Cancer encourages introspection, the knight of swords reminds you to translate those insights into concrete action. Don't be afraid to break free from creative blocks and boldly pursue your writing goals. Trust your intuition and confidently move your story forward.
Weekly prompts and writing exercise
Journal prompt:
The new moon in Cancer and this week's "Weekly Draw” spread encourage you to explore your inner strength and nurture creative birthing. Take some time to reflect on these questions:
What is a truth you've been wanting to explore through your writing but haven't yet?
How can you tap into your vulnerability and emotions to create a deeper connection with your characters or story?
What creative seeds do you want to plant during this new moon cycle? (Think story ideas, character development, exploring specific themes.)
Writing Exercise:
Part 1: Your strength within (15 minutes)
Shadow alchemy: Set a timer for 10 minutes and write continuously without stopping, responding to the journal prompt about your truth and vulnerability in writing. Let your emotions flow freely onto the page.
Identifying your strength: After the writing session, review your work. Circle or highlight any words or phrases that resonate with your inner strength and the truth you want to express. What emotions or experiences emerge?
Part 2: A spark of creativity (20 minutes)
The empress's influence: Think about the empress and the themes of nurturing and creative birthing she represents.
Character deep dive: Choose a character in your current project (or create a new one) and explore their emotional landscape. Imagine yourself as the empress, nurturing this character's growth. What deep desires, fears, or vulnerabilities do they possess? PS: Gender does not come into play here. Emperor energy is very different. If you’re a guy, you can absolutely imagine yourself as the empress. We all have both masculine and feminine energy within us.
Part 3: The knight of swords takes action (15 minutes)
Action plan: Now that you've tapped into your inner strength and creative spark, embody the decisiveness of the knight of swords.
Plot the path: Based on your journal prompt reflections and character exploration, create a concrete action plan for your writing. This could involve outlining key scenes, tackling a challenging plot point or setting specific writing goals for the week.
Bonus tip: Throughout this exercise, remember the supportive energy of the new moon in Cancer. Allow yourself to feel, explore and nurture your creative spirit. Don't be afraid to embrace the messiness of the process. The magic lies in showing up and taking action.
Until next week, xo
