Hello dear ones, and welcome to this week’s edition of The Weekly Draw.
After a day of silence and introspection, I felt inspired to create a new 3-card spread for providing weekly guidance. I love the versatility of 3-card spreads and how insightful they are. You really don’t need a ton of cards on the table to get actionable guidance.
Here’s the spread:
Card 1: Your world within - This card represents your current internal world as a writer. What emotions, themes or ideas are bubbling up?
Card 2: A spark - This card ignites your imagination. It presents a challenge, opportunity or unexpected twist to consider incorporating into your writing or writing process.
Card 3: The catalyst - This card acts as a catalyst for action. It suggests ways to approach the “spark," helping you move forward with your writing.
Shall we begin?
As you can see here, the spread is dominated by the number four, which is associated with stability, structure and safety. Let's see how these "Fours" can influence your writing this week.
Your world within (4 of wands) - Celebration and completion
The 4 of wands traditionally signifies celebration, accomplishment and a sense of community. As your "world within," this card suggests you are experiencing a period of satisfaction with your work. Perhaps you've recently completed a draft or reached a significant milestone in your writing. It's a time to acknowledge your efforts and celebrate your progress.
A spark (4 of cups) - Apathy or a call for change?
The 4 of cups, however, presents a potential “spark." This card can represent a sense of apathy, boredom or dissatisfaction with the status quo. In the context of “a spark," it’s asking if your current writing feels stagnant or uninspired. Are you going through the motions without the usual passion? Perhaps it's a nudge to explore new ideas or shake things up a bit.
The catalyst (4 of swords) - Rest and recharge for renewed focus
The final card, the 4 of swords, as your “catalyst," offers a solution to the potential “apathy” of the 4 of cups. This card signifies rest, reflection and inner peace. The message here is to step away from your writing for a short while. Recharge your creative batteries and allow your mind to wander. Sometimes, a period of rest can lead to renewed focus and a surge of fresh inspiration.
Numerology of Fours
I interpret Fours to symbolize safety, security and stability. Four is a balancing number. Unlike Two that struggles with its polarity, Four is rock solid, has found its feet and has them firmly planted. Four represents a time for building upon what you already have, strengthening your resources and laying down solid foundations for the future.
The presence of three "Fours" in this spread reinforces the message each card has provided. It's a time to solidify your foundation as a writer. Celebrate your achievements, acknowledge any creative roadblocks and use rest and reflection to propel yourself forward.
Prompts inspired by the cards:
Imagine a victory celebration for your characters after achieving a major goal. Describe the scene in detail.
One of your characters seems apathetic or bored. What unexpected event reignites their passion or purpose?
Describe a character taking a break from the chaos of their story. What inner world do they encounter during this time of reflection?

Until next week, xo
