Hello dear ones - I’m at my desk again after a night of very little sleep. The reason? A series of vivid, unsettling dreams that have clung to me like cobwebs long after waking.
For those unfamiliar with the world of intuition, some people have heightened psychic senses. Mine leans more toward claircognizance, a deep inner knowing, rather than clairvoyance, which is the ability to see visions. Claircognizance feels like information downloading straight into my brain, often accompanied by a strong sense of conviction. I just KNOW… and I’m rarely wrong. These downloads come out of nowhere, therefore my mind doesn’t truly get a chance to rest.
While the lack of sleep is brutal (and annoying), there's an undeniable undercurrent of connection to Spirit right now. It feels like the veil between worlds is thin, like it is during Samhain, and I'm picking up on whispers of the collective unconscious, glimpses of things to come. The dreams themselves are a mystery I'd rather not unpack publicly (they aren’t warm and fuzzy by any means), but the lingering unease is a strong signal something important is brewing. As much as I desire sleep, I’m staying open to receive any and all messages.
The weekly reading
Foundation (2 of wands): The overall energy of the week is about planning, decision-making and taking initiative. You might be feeling a surge of creativity and a desire to move forward with an idea or writing project. However, the 2 of Wands also suggests a need for clarity and a well-defined plan before taking action.
If you follow me on IG, you’ll know that I pulled the 2 of wands yesterday from a different deck. It seems the 2 of wands has a message for us, and perhaps it didn’t fully sink in yesterday. Yesterday’s spread was about me being in service to the writing community, with the 2 wands suggesting what writers needed right now is clarity and direction, which I provide as a book coach. This morning, it’s showing up for you as the theme or energy of the week.
The fact that it has shown up in yesterday’s community discussion and your weekly reading, reinforces this energy of planning, setting a vision and taking that crucial first step.
If you did see my IG posts yesterday, did you do the visualization exercise? If so, how was it? Do tell…
Get in balance: Before diving headfirst into action, a crucial step often gets overlooked: self-evaluation and reflection. As writers, we can get caught up in the excitement of a new idea and rush to write without taking a moment to assess our current situation and set realistic goals. Identify your goals for the week and create a clear action plan to achieve them. Consider potential challenges and brainstorm solutions. Speaking of challenges…
Challenge (6 of pentacles): This is suggesting a potential imbalance in matters of giving and receiving, generosity and insecurity. It might point toward feeling unsupported, being overly generous to a fault or struggling with feelings of scarcity.
Get in balance: Reflect on your relationships and interactions. Are you giving and/or receiving in a balanced way? Are you even open to receiving? I ask because some of us aren’t. Sounds harsh, but it’s true. I’m naturally a giver — to a fault. I’ve only recently learned how to receive, and it took the divine masculine coming in to help me learn this lesson. If you're feeling unsupported, consider reaching out for help or setting clearer boundaries. If you're overly giving, practice healthy self-care and prioritize your own needs.
Self-care (The hierophant): The first thing I thought of when seeing this card — again, claircognizance at work — is your spiritual practices. Grounding. Centering. All of that.
Get in balance: What grounds you? Makes you feel centered? Maybe you need to do some earthing (walking barefoot in the grass). Perhaps begin (or restart) a meditation practice. If you read tarot like me, double down on your tarot practice. Exercise. Time in nature. All the things.
Guidance (Death): Sigh… here comes the death card again. By now, I’m sure you know what it means: endings, transformation and letting go of the old to make way for the new. Part of self-evaluation and reflection involves acknowledging when it’s time to let something die, whether it's a habit, a belief system or a situation.
Get in balance: Reflect on areas of your writing life (or life in general) that feel stagnant or unfulfilling. Is there something you need to let go of to make space for positive change? Trust that endings are necessary for new beginnings. It’s the cycle of life.
As a final message, I pulled Breathe from The Wisdom of the Oracle. The message is exactly what it says — BREATHE. It’s a message of slowing down, patience and trust. “Humans can’t exist without drawing breath.” (From the guidebook) While you’re busy making plans, remember to breathe. Focus on self-care and taking care of your well-being. You can’t do it all in a week. It’s okay to go slow. Trust the universe is guiding you, even when faced with challenges or endings.
My final musings: This week is about planning your goals while being open to necessary endings and change (Death). The hierophant is calling you to rely on your spiritual practices to support yourself throughout the week, while the 6 of pentacles reminds you to balance giving and receiving. If you know you can’t reasonably accommodate a request, say no. And if someone is offering a little assistance, say thanks. Remember to Breathe. Many of us don’t breathe properly. Be patient, trust the process and prioritize your well-being.
Self-evaluation prompts (inspired from yesterday’s spread):
Where are you at in your writing journey? (If you’re not a writer, choose another area of life like your career.)
What are your current strengths and weaknesses?
What specific goals (writing or otherwise) do you want to achieve this year?
Planning and direction:
Based on your self-evaluation, create a clear and achievable plan.
Break down your goals into smaller steps, establishing deadlines and milestones.
Identify resources and tools that can support you on your journey.
Book Druid signing off,
Until next time xo
PS: I want to hear from the writers. What are your biggest challenges? And what kind of support do you crave in your writing journey?"
